On March 9th, 2010, Antony Saccomano, former director of the Cherry Hill Department of Code Enforcement and Inspections, was sentenced to 22 months imprisonment, a $20,000 fine, and 200 hours of community service for accepting bribes from private inspection service companies as a public official.
From 2007 to 2008, Saccomano utilized his position as director of the Department of Code Enforcement and Inspections for an area around New York to recommend a 2008 contract extension and contract renewal of Building Inspection Underwriters, Inc. (BIU) after receiving payments totaling of $4,500.
